Local Charity Donations from PVRC
At the 2011 Bluebell Race, Pewsey Vale running Club donated £8,000 to various local charities, groups and organisations. The money had been raised from previous races organised by the club.
A presentation of cheques was held with representatives from the charities attending to accept.
The charities and organisations were Pathfinders, Pewsey Link Transport, Prospect Hospice, Pewsey Friendship Club, Vale of Pewsey Scouts, Pewsey Vale School, The Shak, Wiltshire Wildlife Trust, Wiltshire Air Ambulance, St John Ambulance Wiltshire, Greyhound Rescue and Pewsey District Carnival.
A total of £1000 was raised for charity from the 2011 race. All money after costs from the 2012 race will also be donated to a chosen charity.

Presenting the £2,600 cheque at Brize Norton

Help for Heroes Charity Donation
Chairman Mark Anderson, Treasurer Rob Lister and other long standing members of
Pewsey Vale Running Club were proud to present a cheque for £2,600 to the charity
Help for Heroes at the end of a successful racing year.
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire
to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
|
The message of the charity is simple: “We are strictly non political and non
critical; we simply want to help. We believe that anyone who volunteers to serve
in time of war, knowing that they may risk all, is a hero. These are ordinary people
doing extraordinary things and some of them are living with the consequences of
their service for life. We may not be able to prevent our soldiers from being wounded,
but together we can help them get better.”
This brings the total amount to over £10,000 that the club has donated to Help 4
Heroes and a number of local charities this year. Local beneficiaries of the
club's fund raising in 2009 have included the Marlborough brand of Riding for the
Disabled, the Pathfinders voluntary organisation in Swindon that helps young people
with physical disabilities to particiapate in sporting activities, and Prospect
Hospice that provides end-of-life care for people in and around the Marlborough
area.
In recent years the club has raised around £40,000 for good causes from the races
it organises. Please see the section Races to find out when our next charity
event is being held.
